Canalside Self Storage – CubeSmart

Located across from the new Sola Station Apartments in the rapidly expanding Canal side Area of downtown Columbia, this 4-story, 100,000 square foot, climate controlled self-storage facility now serves this growing residential and office market. Construction of this building encompassed four stories of structural steel with cast in place walls on the lower level, a combination brick veneer and storefront exterior, two elevators, and over 65,000 square feet of rentable storage space. A decorative focal corner on the exterior of the building faces the adjacent apartments and reveals rustic barn doors and an old-fashioned bulb Storage sign. The building was constructed with energy efficiency as one of the top priorities by implementing LED lighting throughout as well as a VRF HVAC system to maximize efficiency and performance. By utilizing retaining walls and the natural grade of the site, multi-level parking and unloading areas were created with surrounding ornamental landscaping to match the area’s upscale vibe.
