CASON DEVELOPMENT GROUP COMPLETES ORANGEBURG TACO BELL WITH BOYER COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION AS GENERAL CONTRACTOR
Cason Development Group has recently completed a new Taco Bell restaurant at 3259 St. Matthews Road in Orangeburg County. The new restaurant opened for business on Friday, April 1.
Cason Development developed the project for Prepared for You Inc., a South Carolina-based Taco Bell franchisee. Boyer Construction of Columbia was the general contractor for the project which incorporates a restaurant design for Taco Bell that has not been widely used in South Carolina, said Frank Cason, owner of Columbia-based Cason Development Group. Investment in the project was over $1 million, including land cost, Cason said.
“Cason Development Group was delighted to be chosen to handle this project for Taco Bell, and we look forward to expanding our relationship with them on other projects,” Cason said. “We value the opportunity to serve a company that shares our corporate values.”
The 2,400-square-foot, free-standing restaurant and drive-thru is located along the busy Highway 601 corridor between Interstate 26 and the City of Orangeburg. The restaurant, Taco Bell’s second in Orangeburg, is between a Dollar General and an auto dealership and is less than a mile from the I-26 interchange.
The new Orangeburg location is the seventh Taco Bell for co-owners Gary Feathers and Billy Baker. Cason Development is also working with Feathers and Baker on Taco Bell locations in Batesburg-Leesville and Lady’s Island. Another is under construction in Santee and several other sites are currently under consideration.
Feathers said Cason took on the task of project manager for the Orangeburg Taco Bell. “Frank took a lot of the day-to-day nuts and bolts off our plate. He performed really well. He managed our co-op where we get all of our equipment from and he managed the contractor. He communicated with us on a daily basis or as needed. It was very smooth, that’s why we are using him for our other projects,” Feathers said. “He was a godsend, he really was.”
Renovation of Old Warehouse moves Company Headquarters to Bluff Road in Columbia, SC.
Softdocs newly renovated headquarters, only steps away from Williams Brice Stadium, was recently completed. Softdocs has 64 employees and plans to add 25 or 30 more over the next 18 months. The present employees include 15 software developers, 10 salespeople and the rest support services, training and troubleshooting technicians, many of whom live outside the state.
Boyer Construction is proud of the 20,000 square-foot renovation project, which converted an existing textile warehouse into modern office space. The project featured a new front facade of the building with brick veneer and curtain wall windows, decorative epoxy coating over existing concrete floors, open ceilings with exposed duct work, and storefront offices throughout. The rear warehouse space was also converted into a tailgating/rental area for local events.
As Softdocs continues to grow, their current client list includes Midlands Technical Collage in Columbia, all 58 North Carolina Community Colleges, and Central Texas College – which is one of the largest community college in the nation, boasting 85,000 students. Softdocs has even landed California’s Cabrillo College, located in Silicon Valley – the software capital of the world.
BOYER CONSTRUCTION POLISHES OFF ROCK SALT RESTAURANT IN CHARLOTTE
Rock Salt is open for business in the Park Road Shopping Center. The eatery offers seafood from the Carolinas and Virginia. The menu also features local fare such as poultry, meats, cheeses and grains.

Rock Salt operates under the umbrella of his Rappahannock Oyster Co. Croxton is a fourth-generation oyster farmer and is providing farm-raised oysters to the establishment.
He notes the restaurant is small at 2,100 square feet, but it features a large patio that overlooks Sugar Creek.

Inside the decor has a rustic feel, with locally made banquettes, tables and chairs playing a primary role. The restaurant will seat 60 inside, including 20 at the bar. Outside, patio seating will accommodate up to 100.

FLORENCE PRESBYTERIAN COMMUNITY BREAKS GROUND FOR HEALTH CENTER EXPANSION
The Florence Presbyterian Community broke ground July 23rd on a major expansion of its Health Center. The 14,489 sq. foot addition will include 25 private, Medicare-certified rooms, an advanced therapy center and updated dining venue. Upon completion in Fall 2015, the Florence Health Center will accommodate 44 total residents requiring rehabilitative services or long term nursing care. Older adults throughout the Pee Dee recovering from an accident, illness or surgery will be able to use their Medicare Part A benefits for post-acute care at the Florence Presbyterian Community Health Center. “Our mission, ‘to enrich the quality of life for seniors of all faiths, is lived out through important expansions such as these,” said Kathy Ligon, President of PCSC. “Enhancing our Health Care centers enables our ministry to better serve our current residents while also accommodating a larger number of people who can benefit from the compassionate, Christian care that Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina (PCSC) offers.”

COLUMBIA, SC – Feb 13, 2012 – Lake Carolina’s The Lake House was awarded a Best in American Living Silver Award, which was announced in Orlando, FL.
The Best in American Living Awards, BALA, spotlight the most creative and innovative builders, remodelers, designers, developers, land planners and interior designers in the nation. The facility was honored in the “Community Facility” category for design and architectural excellence.
The Lake House was built in 2011 on the shores of Lake Carolina, a 200-acre lake surrounded by a residential master-plan containing 36 distinctive residential neighborhoods. The building is over 3,200 square feet. The facility and its surrounding area contain a catering kitchen, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, dock, beach, patio and lawn. The space can accommodate up to 300 guests but is flexible for small gatherings as well.
